Golden Tulip Foundation was established in November 2009. Its founders are Katarzyna and Artur Trawiński, entrepreneurs from Wrocław, who created a well-known, not only in Poland, FM GROUP brand.
At the beginning of the Foundation, we wondered what kind of charity activities we want to perform. Then we decided that our priority will be going to the places where aid rarely reaches. One does not talk about them in media and, for various reasons, they do not arouse great interest in public opinion. Our choice was the village of Bili, Mozambique, near the capital – Maputo, where we decided to build a school for local children.

Our aim is primarily to organize and bring basic humanitarian and development aid. We also want to counteract social exclusion, so popular in situations of extreme poverty, of people who every day, because of their origin, background and lack of education, are forced to live in harsh conditions.

Why Africa?

The FM GROUP brand has arrived to dozens of countries. The company representatives are people with different skin colour, at almost every age and of different religions. Therefore, almost immediately it became obvious that our charity cannot focus only on the nearest area. We wanted to “send” our help beyond the Polish borders, so that all who identify themselves with the company, could feel they are also part of it. Regardless of whether they live in Germany, Argentina, Egypt or Australia, they can support the Foundation and add their share.
It’s very important for us that we went to a country that really needs virtually any form of help – says Katarzyna Trawińska. – We are pleased that after months of efforts, the school, for which we were all waiting, will be built. At the beginning, it was not easy. The biggest problem was the bureaucracy. It took us several weeks to obtain permission for the Foundation’s activities in that area and to cope with all the formalities related to starting construction work. Our Foundation helps now those children, who live in the province and have no access to modern schools. In Bili classes are held under a tree, because there is no building in which they could be organized. In the whole country it is quite a common sight. Therefore, by building the school, we want to provide them the necessary minimum to ensure their further development.
